Marlie’s House

In 2010, our main sponsor Marlie In Paradise provided funding for the building of our volunteer house. Marlie’s House is located on the compound of Creative Solutions. It has five self contained bedrooms with flush toilets and showers, each named after a sponsor. There is a fully equipped kitchen and an open space in the center of the house where guests and volunteers relax. Internet access is available in the computer center for a pay as you go fee. The living arrangements are communal, meaning that volunteers care for the facility and are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of there rooms and the kitchen. Volunteers are welcome to prepare their own meals, and we also have former students who help cook lunch as part of their volunteer service.

Marlie’s House is on a solar system for lights and computers. The refrigerator still uses government electricity. Water is provided by a well on the premises and contained in a 2000 liter tank. Volunteers are reminded to be careful with the use of electricity and water. Meals are taken in Marlie’s House and we provide three meals a day. Special “comfort foods” are not readily available, as town is located 45 minutes from the village, so you might want to bring your own.
