General Information

Creative Solutions Resource Systems is a non profit community learning center, located in the village of Mangapwani, approximately 27 kilometers from Zanzibar town and one kilometer from the beach. We are a grass roots organization providing access to education through both traditional and modern systems. CSRS strives to unleash the creative energy within each individual through participatory workshops, classes and demonstrations. CSRS is committed to the philosophy of creating solutions through self-help.

 

Under the umbrella of CSRS are projects such as, NAYUU Pre School, Arts and Handmade Crafts, Life Skills Classes, and Language and Computer classes. It is through these projects that we work together to increase the knowledge and skills of students and teachers. We teach classes in English and basic Computer Skills year round. The organizational staff of CSRS is comprised of educators, artists, committed to the growth and sustainability of the community.

 

Besides the regular classroom activities, CSRS holds special events for the community, such as, the Annual Community Health Fair, Art/Craft Holiday Fair, Artist workshops, Mangapwani Community Development workshops, tuition classes for Secondary students, Community art projects, end of Ramadan celebrations, weekly blood pressure and glucose screening.

OUR PURPOSE

 

Enable the residents of  our communities with the capacity to make empowering choices that lead to self reliance.

 

Reinforce the empowerment of women in their role in development and income generation.

 

Establish partnerships with government and non government organizations in an effort to reduce poverty.

 

Provide a permanent site for community members to obtain the skills that lead to self reliance and a better quality of life.
